Accomplishments

• Reading in tareq/Shu’s review paper on WENO. I Read the conclusion section.
• Reading in tareq/Cockburn’s review paper on RKDG. I read the Introduction, and some sections. I have some questions there on how to proceed.

Plans for next week

• Reading on topics that are essential for understanding WENO and RKDG

Other matters

• I had a meeting with David Keyes last week. We discussed the possibility for me to look into research topics related to Mixed-precision and data compression for memory-bound problems, in parallel to my work with you. So my plan for this semester is to do some reading on this topic too.
• On the matter of having a full backup of my data, I plan to do this when I get a Mac laptop, which will happen sometime this semester
• I am joining study groups for my classes which is allowing me to spend more organized study time. This is also helping me to progress faster in studying the classes material

• By profiling my work time last week I found that I spent a total of 50.5 hours:
• AMCS 251: 13.5
• AMCS 252: 20.5
• Research: 2.5
• Others: 15
• I target to increase the total time and have more time for research
