Goals of the semester

  1. Complete and submit paper on efficient ERK scheme for spectral difference methods applied to Euler and LEE equations with (with David Ketcheson and Willem Deconick) (SIAM SISC)
    • Show an example of internal instability
    • Run simulations (about 33)
    • Post process data
    • Writing
    • Plan next steps to fix internal instability issue –> This will lead to a new project
  1. Complete paper on SD and LES in a muffler with 3rd- and 4th-order results
    • Run 4 simulations on KAUST cluster (write proposal to get hours)
    • Post-process the data and make comparison
    • Writing
  1. Efficient and accurate ERK for aeroacoustics (with David Ketcheson)
    • Let’s use SD.
    • Implement absorbing BC in CF3 (PML, sponge zone, or start with rude coarsening)
  1. Start implicit shallow water on the sphere in PyClaw (with David Ketcheson, Jed Brown and Kyle Mandli)
    • Interface to PETSc/SNES
